I dreamed that I was in a vegetable field and saw many slender loofah vines. I remembered that I needed some loofahs for cooking at home, so I started to pick them secretly.
I carefully picked up a slender soft loofah and saw its smooth surface and dark green flesh hanging on it. I couldn't help but drool. I walked slowly along the vines, picking loofahs and feeling the softness of the loofah vines.
Sometimes I would step back and see if anyone was around, for fear of being caught by the owner stealing food. But when I see a pot with no one around, it's like they're just sitting there waiting for me to pick them. So my hands kept running through the vines, as if looking for treasure.
Every loofah I picked was like a small victory and I couldn't help but feel very satisfied. Suddenly, I felt someone behind me. I looked at the man in surprise and found that it was an old man.
With a smile on his face, he walked straight up to me and asked me: "Young man, what are you picking?" I lowered my head and did not answer his question. He asked me again: "Do you want to pick some vegetables to take home?"
I nodded. He continued: "The vegetables here are grown by old men for their own food. Isn't it good for you to steal vegetables like this?"
I felt a little embarrassed, but I still said: "I lack some vegetables at home, so I came here to steal some."
The old man nodded, and then asked me, is my family short of money? I nodded again. He told me: "In our rural areas, there is a tradition. If merchants want to sell vegetables, we can ask them if they can give us some spoiled vegetables for free."
I'm puzzled by this. The old man smiled and said to me: "As long as we don't waste it, we will have resources." After hearing his words, I suddenly realized, and I suddenly felt a little comfortable in my heart.
After waking up from the dream, I found myself still in bed with nothing in my hands, as if the loofah I had just turned into nothing. I lay quietly on the bed, thinking deeply about the dream I just had.
The dream of stealing loofahs made me realize an important truth, that is, in our hometown, rural life is relatively simple and self-sufficient. There, we learned to cherish all resources, not waste food, and live seriously.
I hope to return to my hometown in the future, live there with my family, and carefully taste the delicious vegetables grown by myself. I will never forget what the old man said just now, and the beauty of rural life that I have never experienced. Thanks to the dream, it brought me such understanding.
